Dad bought himself a new phone, the Sony Ericsson K530. I was wondering why did he suddenly decided to change from his previous Nokia 9500 Series to a small-not-so-businessman-looking phone. OvO; He said he didn’t know himself and that he didn’t even know what’s the specialty, specs and functions of the model. XD Aiyoh… Not so like my dad to buy stuff without browsing over and doing his usual survey on the net. Turns out the K530 has 3G features and is one of the (affordable) slimmest 3G phone on the market. The price is okay (for my dad, it’s considered a bargain!).
I was tempted to get a new phone for quite a while but never really found any interesting model. The K530 somehow triggered my interest! So I asked dad if I could have a new phone with the reason that my phone is kinda old and outdated! (Haha mengade, padahal phone ok lagi.)
Then dad made a bargain with me, he’d paid half of the phone while I’ll be paying the other half. Yayyyy!! New phone coming! ^_^ Anyways, dad bought one for mom too. The exact same model, the exact same colour! (Thunder Black) He wanted to do video calling with mom.
So the three of us got the same phone! :DPreviously my mom and I are using the same phone, the old nokia 6610i. ^^
Here’s how our phone look like.

Click for larger image. Pictures taken from Cellphone Digest.I have been using the phone for about 3 days now and somehow I am sad to say I’m a bit disappointed with the quality of the camera. So yeah, it’s a camera phone and you can’t expect much from it but I have compared the picture quality with Ariz’s W700 phone (it’s a walkman phone for god’s sake, and mine is the cameraphone series.) and the pictures taken from his phone is better compared to mine. We have the same 2.0 megapixel camera. I dunno why the obvious defect.
Here.. look. the top is the one captured with Ariz’s W700, while the bottom is captured using my K530i phone. And the close-up of each picture. Both pictures are taken under the same environment. In a room, under a fluorescent light, nightime, with night-mode turned on.

Now you be the judge of it. =_= Mine has more “noise” than his, and a lot YELLOWISHHHHH.
Overall, what I like about the phone is…
- It’s slimmmmmmmmm!!!
- An affordable 3G phone
- It can be used as a modem! (which I am yet to explore)
- It’s black and shiny and has this gold buttons XD
- My first SE phone and my first experience with bluetooth, GPRS, WAP, mp3 ringtones, video recording and such… +_+
- the animated wallpaper is real love!!
And what I hate…
- For a SE K series (camera) phone, the picture quality sure sucks. You need to have proper lighting in order to get a better picture.
- The screen turns totally black in idle mode. I can’t detect wheter I have miscalls, incoming sms untill I unlock the phone. boo! Well, maybe this is a energy saving feature?
- Sound quality not as good, but ok nonetheless.
As a conclusion, it’s a so-so phone but i still like it. I need to explore more! Hey tak kenal make tak cinte la kan? ^^
Oh and since I bought a 3G phone and I have upgraded my simcard to a 3G simcard months ago, Ariz is tempted to get himself a 3G phone of his own.
So he sold his old phone to his sister and used his savings to buy a new phone. Boo to him. I asked him to get a Sony Ericsson too but he’s going for Nokia since Nokia can save messages into the memory card while Sony Ericsson can only save it in the phone memory. But the amoi at the phone stall says Sony Ericsson phone can save sms into the memory card, but it needs to undergo a few setting changes. He seems to set his mind for this Nokia, so yeah. Let it be. He got himself a Nokia 6120 Classic. The design isn’t as great as Sony Ericsson, but the screen features has 16M colour. Mine is only 226K. =3=
I’m yet to receive reviews from him soon.
He just bought it today! ^^
p/s: I was using Opera when I typed the entry but it seems like the text doesn’t go inline and has some glitches when I typed. It’s annoying. I finished writing a very long review but then I switched to [code] view in wordpress and switch to [visual] view, and part of the entry got cut off!! O_O At the starting of the [sub] code. =”- it’s annoying. And I was really getting to love Opera (gotta love the quick dial feature) but I think I’ll stick to firefox. Opera has glitches to most of the website I use daily. Even deviantart looks awfully different and the “devwatch update” button has glitches. =_____=;;; aiyorh!!
Sorry Ariz, I cannot join you on the Opera bandwagon. I still love Firefox. ^^;
